Yes, it's private. Onlime Smart Photo Search uses modern vector-based AI delivered from data centers in Scandinavia. No US big tech touches your photos. The models are pre-trained on large external datasets, and your photos are NOT used to further train the models. Your searches are not used for training either, and data is not shared with third parties.

We use pre-trained AI models to analyse the content of each photo. Each photo is converted to a vector, a matrix of hundreds of numbers describing the photo's meaning. When you search, your search sentence is also converted to a vector, and we compute the distance between the search vector and each photo vector. Smaller distance = higher similarity score. Results are sorted from highest to lowest score, so the most relevant photos appear first.

Yes, we're open about the limits. Personal face recognition (tagging by name) is not yet supported. Use "Find similar" to gather photos of the same person. Geographic search based on metadata is not integrated, but the model does recognise well-known places from photo content. Time periods are not directly supported. Search is limited by the visual quality of your photos.

Our AI-powered photo search supports English, Danish and many other languages, including Spanish, Japanese, German, French and Chinese. The model understands meaning, not words, so you don't need to switch language in the app. Write the way you naturally would.

With Onlime your photos are stored in Scandinavia, specifically in Stavanger, Norway under EEA jurisdiction. iCloud Photos and Google Photos are hosted on US servers and are subject to the CLOUD Act (US law that lets American authorities compel data access from US-incorporated companies, including data stored in Europe). Onlime is not subject to the CLOUD Act. Additionally, Onlime does not train AI models on your photos and does not use your content to improve algorithms across users.

The entire photo-search stack, from vector database to AI inference, runs in Onlime's primary datacenter in Stavanger, Norway, powered by 100% Norwegian hydropower, backed by guarantees of origin. Your photos and their vector representations never leave Scandinavia.

You can cancel whenever you like. Before your account closes, you can download all your photos and videos. When the cancellation takes effect, your data, including vector representations, is permanently deleted from our systems in accordance with Onlime's data processing agreement.
